When Less Speaks MORE
The brief from our Clients was to craft a Japandi style space – Japanese X Scandi with minimal renovation. After meeting and interacting with the homeowners who are friends of my other client couple, we realised they were actually somewhat quirky with a wry sense of humour. That was when we realised underneath all that minimalism is a family who could afford to have fun. So had fun we did.
We created an original feature wall with the words ‘bliss. peace. joy. love. blah. blah. blah’ because i) That completely encapsulates our Clients’ light and casual attitude towards life ii) Visually this feature wall will blend in well with the Japandi look.
We did very minimal carpentry stuff for the living and dining room because there isn’t a need to create lots of storage. We like that our Clients were very decisive, and non-wishy washy. And they like my proposed styling items and trusted our choices. We are extremely proud of what we have created together. It is minimal yet so not minimal in visual impact. A classic example of how less can be more, if you know how to go about it.
